View Full Version : What shows are you BINGE watching right now?

Idle Thoughts

No, this is not a "what are you currently watching?" thread, as in, I'm not asking what shows you're watching regularly, on a week to week basis...

...I'm asking, rather, what shows you're watching two, three, four--possibly more--episodes EACH and EVERY DAY of, via....whatever outlet or streaming feature you use (Hulu, Netflix, others).

I've got quite a few going at the moment and all are on Netflix, currently:

That 70s Show*
How I Met Your Mother
The Twilight Zone*
Scrubs*
The 100
Californication
My Name is Earl
Once Upon A Time
Arrow
Bates Motel
Being Human (US)
Burn Notice
Black Mirror
Prison Break*

*rewatches

What about you?

This weekend I watched the entire 1st season of Stranger Things, and greatly enjoyed it.

The Block (Australia version) The most recent season of the Block with the art deco influences has been good as it's forced the contestants to change any pre-conceived/planned styles they were going to put in. And I like art deco too.

And Community. I'd already watched Community once but it had been years (still hoping there's the "movie").

Just wrapped up the Rebecca years of Cheers.
Now onto Frasier and Man in the High Castle.

I watched a handful of the first season of "The Affair" when it debuted. I lost interest and never looked back. Until a couple of weeks ago I binged the rest of the seasons. That show is really up and down in terms of plots and writing. I'm all caught up except for last nights episode which I watched a bit of before heading to work this morning.

Narcos on Netflix. I'd forgotten all the crazy shit Pablo Escobar got away with.

Spent the weekend watching the entire first season of The Magicians.

Annoyed at one plot element I think is over-used in Hollywood these days and didn't like the season ending, but otherwise enjoyed the show.

4 eps a day? Who has time for that?!

I've been doing one ep a day - makes an hour on treadmill more tolerable.

I started with Daredevil on Netflix. Finished that which lead me to Jessica Jones - also very entertaining. Just started Luke Cage this morning.

QuickSilver
12-19-2016, 12:20 PM
Just started Chelsea Handler. Not quite sure how far I'll get.

"The Russians" will probably be next.

New Girl

Absolutely hysterical and charming show. Can't get enough, and happily there are a lot of episodes. We have to force ourselves to turn off the TV after 4-6 30 minute episodes.

Not really binging, but I'm catching about two episodes per week of Person of Interest. I didn't watch it while it was on TV, but he whole run is on Netflix now.

Pretty good, but I don't think Jim Caviezel can act his way out of a wet paper bag.

When the HIGH temp for the day is -10 after being -26 overnight, you don't plan on going anywhere. Makes a nice relaxing day binge watching and cooking.

After getting hooked earlier this year, we're now into season 4 of "Shameless" (US version).

We don't watch every night, but when we do watch, it is at least 2 episodes.

I just finished a rewatch of The West Wing[I]

I needed reassurance that at some point in time, we expected/hoped that Presidential candidates ran for office because they wanted to serve the country.

Prior to that, I rewatched all of Longmire and watched the newly released season after.

I've just finished this. What started as a routine procedural - albeit one with an interesting premise - ended up being way better than that.

I just finished season 2 of iZombie last night. I have one episode left of Cosmos to watch (the reboot with Neil DeGrasse Tyson, not the original), which I will probably finish up tonight. After that, I'll most likely start on Luke Cage, with Arrow/Flash/Legends of Tomorrow lurking in the background.

The original Star Trek (TOS). It's been a long, long time since I've seen any of the episodes, and some I don't think I've seen at all, which is probably a mortal sin for Trek fans.

Looking at Shameless next. I can only do one series at a time. I also need to finish The Ranch, which was stupid, but I can't leave it unfinished!

Fair enough - but do you have a high of -10 "each and every day" like suggested in the OP?

And unless you're extremely far from the equator, I'm assuming those are celcius degrees?

On my last trip abroad, I stayed up until four in the morning watching Season 5 of A Place to Call Home over two nights.

When it first started, it was a really good series about a Holocaust survivor dealing with anti-Semitism. Now it's gotten so soap-opera-y, it's like watching the recent incarnation of Dallas all over again. :(

I don't understand the OP and the rules. There's apparently over 7 hours of stuff IT's list. And watching at least 2 episodes of each per day, possibly 3 or 4????

There's binge watching and then there's biiiiinnnnggge watching.

We do one episode a night of a drama and a comedy. Currently Scott & Bailey (http://imdb.com/title/tt1843678/)* and WKRP in Cincinnati. No time to do more.

And we're retired.

* Good grief. There's an episode summary of the next episode we're going to watch on the front page and it has an immense spoiler for the whole season-long story arc. Egad.

Let me add the Wikipedia link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_%26_Bailey) for the show in case you want to dodge spoilers.

Sunday my wife and I binged season 2 of The Office (US version).
It's about ten years old now and some of the differences in technology and characterization are interesting. Flip phones and honking huge tube tvs as the norm.
We had forgotten how outright racist Michael was in the early seasons and not just ignorant, but real racism.

Right now I'm binge-watching ER. I never watched it while it was on the air, so this is my first viewing. I watched seasons 1 and 2 over the summer, and started season 3 a week or so ago; I'm about halfway through it.

I put off starting this show because it's not available on Netflix or Amazon Prime, and the seasons are pricey: I just paid $15 for the third season. But over the summer, iTunes had a thing where the pilot was available for free and the rest of the first season was only $9.99...and I fell for it. Those bastards knew what they were doing, because now I can't imagine not finishing the series. You know, eventually. (15 seasons!!) I can see it being something I binge a season or two at a time.

How I Met Your MotherI just finished binge re-watching that about a week ago. :) I floundered for a replacement for a while, and re-watched a few favorite episodes of The West Wing, but then I remembered ER.

Alfred Hitchcock presents (the 50s version)
Twilight zone (60s version. there were 3 versions)

I was binge watching Its always sunny but quit around season 5 for some reason. That show is great, I need to go back.

I binge watched the US version of being human in a month. That was fun.

That 70s Show, How I met your Mother and My Name Is Earl are some of the great sitcoms of our time.

Now I consider myself to be an expert of sitcoms, because I am, so you are in good company here.

Me, or I, whichever is phonetically genetic, am watching the Lucifer and Preacher which just came in the mail from the Amaze On! I started to watch both shows but because of personal issues, (I had the "Not Carings.") so I couldn't watch anymore but now they's out on the blue ray. So I afforded them and am blinking along to their glorious light.

I've been watching Better Call Saul at about an episode a day, which is as bingey as I can get right now with a 4 year old.

My wife and I have been running through Supergirl at about the same rate. It brings back fond memories of burning through Buffy with her at a season every two or three days on DVD.

The closest I get to binge-watching is 1 or 2 episodes per day, so by that definition I'm binge-watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, after having bought the complete series box set for myself a couple weeks ago.

Just finished binging on Preacher, which was awesome. Between this and the pilot for The Tick I am now thoroughly terrified of Jackie Earle Haley.

Now watching The Young Pope, although I have to wait until the child is in bed as there's a lot of random but very loud profanity involved.

Next up will probably be The Man in the High Castle.

I've been too busy to be able to binge watch anything, but I've watched episode one of both "The Break" and "The OA" on Netflix.

I have next week off though, so I hope to finish both of those then.

I binge watched Baskets over the last few days. That was kind of weird. I'm not sure if I like it or not. It reminds me of Louie's TV show. At first I didn't get it or like it, but it grew on me. Maybe Baskets is the same.

Right now I'm watching Horace & Pete. So far, not impressed. The writing (which Louie CK did) reminds me of something you'd see in a play put on by 14 year olds. So far not impressed, but still watching.

I just spent four days binging on three seasons of The 100. I think there were around fifteen 40 minute episodes per season. It was just like watching a really long movie. In my defense I was sick in bed for at least the first three days.

I got caught up on The Good Place and it's good. Today I started Luke Cage and Goliath. I've got a week more of vacation, it will probably be more Netflix and Amazon exclusive programming.

Usually on my winter break I binge on a ton of old stuff I love. Like Home Movies and Jeeves & Wooster. But dammit there is so much good tv out there right now I can't keep up!

Top Gear. Most of the seasons / series of the revamped BBC version (starting c. 2002) are now available for free streaming on Prime. I have no idea how long they've been available but I'm thrilled. I've been watching 2 or 3 episodes a day since learning they were on Prime. I'll keep it up till christmas break ends or I run out of free episodes to watch.

I just finished binge-watching "Better Things" on FX. Pamela Adlon Rocks!
She's like the thinking person's (one who actually has to live, work, pay bills, and be an Actual Adult who ages in this real world where people don't have their perfect-lived asses popped out of a make-up trailer every 15 minutes) 'Lorelai Gilmore'.

If you can get hold of it I would strongly rec a BBC drama called The Missing. S1 is excellent, S2 even more so. You don't need to have seen S1 before S2.

I binge-watched the first (and only, so far) season of Occupied (http://slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2016/02/02/occupied_a_political_thriller_on_climate_change_now_on_netflix_reviewed.html), on Netflix, in two nights this past week. It's very, very good. And eerily prophetic, maybe. (It's set in the near future, where the US has pulled out of NATO and Norway is trying to break it's dependence on fossil fuels, which the EU and Russia are not happy about.) I was hooked from the start.

OP, I recommend the U.K. version of Being Human. The first three seasons are terrific.

Yes! Better Things was wonderful.

I think I got hooked after seeing the scene where she was trying to do voice over work and getting a call from a teacher about her strong-willed daughter.

" God Damn It!" *shifts into soprano cartoon voice*

Just finished The White Rabbit Project
In addition just went through two subtitled French shows
A Very Secret Service (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Very_Secret_Service). It has Hugo Becker of Gossip Girl fame in it. Set during the Algerian War, in Paris.

Plus Call My Agent (http://tf1international.com/int_fiche.php?Film=1502). About a French agency which represents various famous actors, all of whom appear as themselves. Its fun, even if you are having to head off to French Wikipedia to find out who exactly is it who is appearing this week.

Turns out the French make more than just softcore porn and headache inducing arthouse films. :D
