Also, "Abraham, Martin, and John."

Well Only a Lad by Oingo Boingo is mentioned in the other thread.

Does the theme from the Dear John TV show count?

I do have one good one: Jesus, John, and Elvis by Dick Siegel.
I couldn't find the lyrics online but if I remember correctly it goes: "Jesus, John, and Elvis, Son of God, President and Pelvis, they were all men divine, and they had nice hair."

Johnny Johnny Johnny by Shonen Knife, one of the bounciest, most addictive songs I have ever heard. If you're compiling a Johnny mix tape, you have to include this; it will be different from everything else.

Johnny, It's Downhill From Here by Uncle Bonsai, a song about the one redeeming feature of superachievers, that when they leave their protective environment they fail miserably.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers: Johnny Kick a Hole in the Sky and [I]Tear[i/]. The name Johnny is said repeatedly in the first one at the end of the chorus. In the latter, John is included in the line “say it loud, cos John and Jane would like to know.”

Pink Floyd: Not Now John. “Not now John, we’ve got to get on with these” etc.

Charlie Daniel’s Band: Devil went Down to Georgia “The boy said my name’s Johnny”

Tim McGraw: Don’t Take the Girl “Johnny hit his knees and then he prayed."

The Eagles: New Kid in Town “Johnny Come Lately, the new kid in town, everybody loves him and you’re still around.”

Damn coding!

Anyway, just thought of a couple more for you:

Iggy Pop: Lust for Life. “Here comes Johnny, in again, with liquor and drugs and a fast machine.”

Elvis, Little Richard, or the Beatles, take your pick: Long Tall Sally. “Well, long tall Sally, she’s built sweet, she’s got everything that Uncle John needs.”

And if you can't find Shotting Star, they've got another song called Shooting Star that might fit the criteria.

People often forget or don't know that Chuck Berry wrote two songs about Johnny B. Goode. The second being Bye Bye Johnny which is the tale of soon-to-be successful Johnny leaving the Log Cabin in Louisiana for Hollywood.

Thanks, JulKatBo, I kept thinking there was a U2 song with Johnny in it, and I could not for the life of me think of what it was. It was driving me nuts.

The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun -- Julie Brown

So I ran down and I said, in her good ear, "Debbie, why'd you do it?"
She raised her head, smiled, and said "I - I did it for Johnny."
Johnny? Well like who's Johnny? Answer me, Debbie, who's Johnny? Does anybody here know Johnny? Are you Johnny? There was one guy named Johnny but he was a total geek, he always had food in his braces. Answer me, Debbie, who's Johnny??"

BTW, the words "Handsome Johnny" appear in every verse:
Quote:
Hey, look yonder, tell me what's that you see
Marching to the fields of Concord?
It looks like Handsome Johnny with a musket in his hand,
Marching to the Concord war, hey marching to the Concord war.
"It looks like Handsome Johnny with a flintlock in his hand"
"It looks like Handsome Johnny with a carbine in his hand"

Etc.

...Here Comes a Hydrogen Bomb. Here comes a guided missile.

A BÖC Fan (named John) checking in:

One of those songs you won't find via a Title Search.

"The Marshall Plan" - By Blue Öyster Cult

Song about a guy who takes his girl to a rock concert and she dumps him for the guitarist in the band. Our title character, Johnny, isn't stting right with this one. He learns to play guitar and becomes a legend in his time. The song even has a cameo voice over by old Mr. Satin Baseball Jacket himself: Don Kirschner
(Paraphrasing here)
Quote:
This is Don Kirschner
And tonight on Don Kirschner's Rock Concert
A new phenomenon in the music world
With 6 Million albums to his credit in 2 short years
My good friends, Here's Johnny
...Enter cliched Buck Dharma guitar solo.

There's a song from the 50's/early 60's, female singer that sings:

Oh, johnny, oh johnny...(something something something)

It was the first thing that came to mind other than:

when johnny comes marching home again, hoorah! Hoorah!

When the Beatles Hit America by John Wesley Harding. (Sort of a spoken blues satire riff to it...)

Due to a miracle marketing strategy
beyond the realms of reasonable possibility,
it is announced simultaneously
on radio, compact disc and TV,
that John, Paul, George and Ringo,
they're gonna be reforming as The Beatles in 1993.

And things skip into action immediately.
George buys the film rights in a flurry of activity;
Paul says they're not gonna play Japan;
Ringo cancels his chat show plans;
and John, who was never the quiet one,
John stays silent, for the time being...

And there's also at least one line in The Red Rose and the Briar by the same artist.

My Ride's Here by Warren Zevon

I was staying at the Marriott
With Jesus and John Wayne
I was waiting for a chariot
They were waiting for a train
The sky was full of carrion
"I'll take the mazuma"
Said Jesus to Marion
"That's the 3:10 to Yuma
My ride's here..."
