Well, you see I was at the mall recently and I saw all sorts of cute asian stationary. You know, the type with the adorable little asian girls that play every sport known to man and look CUTE while doing it? The type with all the little cartoon-ish character.
Well, I noticed that they have really sweet quotes at the bottom, in really bad english but what can you expect?

My question to you:
What are your favorite love quotes?

An example: "The course of true love never did run smooth" Lysander, A Midsummer Night's Dream

Thanks in advance.

Here are some of my favs..

"The more you love, the more you can love - and the more intensely you love. Nor is there any limit on how many you can love. If a person had enough time, he could love all of that majority who are decent and just." - Robert A. Heinlein

You never lose by loving, you lose by holding back.

Someone loves you far more then you know with a love that keeps growing as days come and go. Somebody needs you to make life worthwhile.. Needs your warm touch and the joy of your smile.

I don't want to lose you, I could never make it alone. I am the man who will fight for your honor, I'll be the hero your dreaming of, we'll live forever. growing together and we did it all for the glory of love.

"Love doesn't make the world go round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile." - Franklin P. Jones

FYI the ones without names by them I have no clue who said them.

May you love as long as you live and live as long as you love.

Hey where's the guy they kept warning the newbies about that quotes Shakespeare? Wouldn't it be logical for him to show up?

Doubt thou the stars are fire,
Doubt the sun doth move
Doubt truth to be a liar,
but never doubt thy love.
Hamlet

A guy acctually wrote this to me, and it blew me away:

"Everytime I've told you I love you, I've thought it a thousand times in my head, and felt it a million times in my heart."

"If we are truly meant to be, we will find our way back to each other."

It's a quote from Dawson's Creek, but my boyfriend said it to me after I dumped him the first time. And we did find our way back to each other, and now we are better together than we ever were then.

No man is worth your tears, the only man who is will never make you cry.

Does anyone know where this is from or what the proper wording is? I find it so sweet.

Somebody once told me he'd burn all the boats in San Francisco Bay before he ever lost touch with me.

I haven't heard about any burning incidents on the news, Bay Area Dopers, can you verify?

Track down a poem called True Love by Sharon Olds, if you can.

Mine is French, which makes it très romantique

Belle amie, ainsi est de nous,
Ni vous sans moi, ni moi sans vous.

"All poetry is untranslatable"--E. V. Gordon

But I won't let that stop me from trying to translate it:

My beautiful love, so it is between us,
that there is no you without me, nor me without you.

"Into love and out again,
Thus I went and thus I go.
Spare your words and hold your pen—
Well and bitterly I know
All the songs were ever sung,
All the words were ever said;
Could it be, when I was young,
Someone dropped me on my head?"

"Love is the crocodile on the river of desire."

When my wife and I were still dating, I updated this to, "Love is the pitbull on the street of desire."

Not sure where the original comes from, although I have the idea in the back of my mind that it's Egyptian somehow.

As they say, love is blind...and deaf, and dumb, and frequently stupid.

Why does that quote have to be so true?

Sonnet 116. (Along with the rest.)

Along with snippets of bad poetry by yours truly. It's bad, but it was heartfelt at the time. (Still don't know if that's a good thing or not....)

My love is my life.
My life is devoted to you.
I want to hold you in my arms,
My angel, my love so true.

She vied so fast, protesting oath on oath,
That in a twink she won me to her love.
O, you are novices! 'tis a world to see,
How tame, when men and women are alone,
A meacock wretch can make the curstest shrew.
Give me thy hand, Kate: I will unto Venice,
To buy apparel 'gainst the wedding-day.
Provide the feast, father, and bid the guests;
I will be sure my Katharina shall be fine."

My personal favorite is something that I heard years ago. I believe it is I Corinthians 13. I don’t know all the verses, but it hits something inside when I hear it.

I was going to say 1 Corinthians 13 as well!

But since you did, I have this:

Connor: Think it was "First you want to kill me, now you want to kiss me. Blow."

Of course she did want to kill him again later, so go figure. Talk about fickle.

Purple Prose...

This is a toast from a Herb Caen column:

"Here's to the trees and flowers in bloom.
You in my arms and I in your room.
A bird and a bottle and a bed badly tossed.
A door that is locked and a key that is lost.
And a night that's a thousand years long..."

One of my all time favorites.

Thank goodness I've had a few nights like that in my life. It makes all of the times alone bearable.)

Starting each day, I shall remind myself
to reach out and touch you, gently,
with my words, my eyes and with my fingers,
because I don't want to miss feeling you...
You know, I'm really convinced
that if you were to define love,
the only word big enough
to engulf it all would be 'life'--
LOVE IS LIFE--in all its aspects...
And if you miss love, you miss life!
>Leo Buscaglia
I really feel this way about the guy I'm with now...

and Wrath, the full quote is:
Doubt thou the stars are fire,
Doubt the sun doth move
Doubt truth to be a liar,
but never doubt thy love.
- Shakespeare's Hamlet
