I need "Saurian Brandy"—any suggestions?

Long story short, I've got a bottle ready for a Christmas gift, but I'm looking for a suitably weird brandy to fill it with.

Specifically, I need something (preferably an actual brandy) that tastes like it's something a race of lizard-men would drink. And is light brown.

And, of course, something that won't break the bank. I'm thinking roughly $25, max.

There's not much canon information on the Saurian homeworld, but at least some of the semi-canon licenced stuff indicates it may be a jungle planet.

So...can any other geeks, nerds, or connoisseurs help me out?

IMHO, it's the bottle that makes the difference. Any cheap brandy would work. Maybe drop some RedHots to dissolve in it to give it a slightly off color (and a bit of spice) would be fun. (It's supposed to be a little sweet.)

YMMV (this IS the Dope, after all...)

Googling it, it appears to already have pretty pervasive cocktail recipe that includes vodka, orange zest, sugar, and maple syrup. I wonder if it's from one of the licensed books? I know there was a Neelix cookbook at some point.

I thought Saurian brandy was supposed to be green? Wasn't it green in the old series?

No, the green booze in TOS (the episode By Any Other Name) was unnamed. In TNG, there was a green beverage identified as Aldeberan Whiskey, which is likely what Scotty was drinking in BAON (since that scene was referencing BAON).

There was, however, a blue Antarean Brandy.

Star Trek has a LOT of blue booze (several kinds of brandy, Romulan Ale)...I think the Aldeberan Whiskey is the only green kind.

One key for a true Saurian brandy is that it needs to be potent so whatever you add nedds to fortify the brandy.

IIRC there was an episode of DS9 where it mentioned as no longer illegal after the Federation-Romulan alliance was formed. I always supposed that it was illegal because of a trade embargo, like Cuban cigars, and not because it's worse than other beers.

In an outtake scene from Star Trek: Nemesis, IIRC, Worf complains about his hangover from too much Romulan ale.

Worf: "It should be illegal!"
LaForge: "It is illegal."
Worf (groans): "Then it should be more illegal."
