HELP Name my YOGA Studio!

Hello!

I stumbled across this amazing group via a Google search looking for INSPIRATION NAMING MY YOGA STUDIO. I noticed that there was a similar thread over three years ago, but I am hoping there are some new and fresh ideas out there Every time we think we came up with a brilliant idea, someone else has already thought of it before us ... kinda like men, all the good ones are taken lol!

My partner and I are taking over an existing studio and need to change the name quickly. We offer regular and hot Hatha yoga (including teacher training, aerial yoga, pre and post natal classes, couples yoga, etc.).

We are looking for a gender neutral name that would appeal to everyone from teenagers to seniors and everyone in between.

We are located in a physically active lakeside community in Canada.

Our goal is to create an environment that feels like a second home to our yoga community.

Many thanks for your help ... looking forward to hearing your ideas!

Keep your thermostat at 62 and call it Frozen Yoga.

Or you could be honest and name it Watch For The Next Exercise Fad Here (formerly Pilar's Pilates, Zahra's Zumba and Yanni's Yoga.)

I think a better idea though is to have a contest for your existing customers. Whoever comes up with the best name you can give a free month pass to.

(Lake Name) Yoga.

Yoga by the Lake.

What's the lake's name, by the way? Might be able to make some connection there.

ISTM that the goals of yoga study are not well-conveyed by clever, flashy, punning names. I might submit that particularly given your probably bucolic local, you simply go with something like "A Better Way -- Yoga Instruction and Meditation Center."

If you must include an appeal to the hip set, you could also post a discreet sign reading, "Free Zoomba Classes on alternate Tuesday eves."

ETA: A very warm welcome to the SDMB, btw. I hope you find what you are seeking here.

Much as I love puns, "Still Waters Yoga" is not a bad idea - it works in the lakeside location and the calming atmosphere of yoga.

I clicked to say name it geographically, because that's all anyone cares about.

But then I saw The Flesh Pretzel, and that gets my vote.

Hello Everyone!

So sorry for the delayed response to all of your wonderful suggestions. I have been dealing with an unexpected emergency that I had to take care of over the last couple of months, but we are back on track and looking forward to moving forward with our yoga studio project!

We were unable to come up with a suitable name, so we decided to keep it simple and name the studio using the name of our town followed by the word "Yoga" ... where it is and what it is. We were very happy with the name, however, we are having second thoughts because it limits us if we decide to open a second location in a few years. So we are back to the drawing board.

Please forgive me if this is not the proper message board etiquette, but I have responded below to some of your ideas and questions below.

I kinda love "Yoga, Eh?" - very cute and totally Canadian and available

I like "Yo-ga!" too ... it's sort of along the same lines of "Yoga, Eh?", but the only problem is yoga.com is not available

Wow! You came up with a lot of great names! "Yogatopia" and "Get Yoga" are two of my favs ... but unfortunately already taken by Canadian yoga studios.

Yes, we have considered running a Facebook contest to help us name our studio, but we need a name to do all the legal, banking and other paperwork before we are ready to make an official announcement.

"Yoga by the Lake" is a great suggestion, but there is already a business in our town operating under the name "Fitness by the Lake" and she runs yoga classes on the beach.

"Still Waters Yoga" is an interesting idea - Toronto is home to the very popular "Still Water Spa"

That's what I was going to suggest. It would guarantee patronage from the two or three HPL fans in your province. If they still retain human form, of course.

And you can certainly use the same name for two different locations. Just add a modifier: Still Water Yoga at the lake vs. Still Water Yoga on Fourth Street. Or Still Water Yoga II.
