View Full Version : Songs that go - "Woo Hoo!"

Ive written some songs that use different songwriting 'ticks' - a spelling song, a chorus free song, a key change down, etc and now I'm writing a song that goes 'Woo Hoo!'.
So I'd like to listen to as many as I can to be sure not to pinch one and in order to honour the form.

Can you point any out to me? Obvious ones are Song 2 by Blur and Statue of Liberty by XTC. I won't count Bohemian Like Me by The Dandy Warhols as that goes 'Woo Hoo Hoo!' but any others you could let me know would be sought out for my autistic-like research.

Cheers.

Song 2 by Blur has several:

I got my head checked
By a jumbo jet
It wasn't easy
But nothing is, no
Whoo hoo!
Well I feel heavy metal
Whoo hoo!
And I'm pins and I'm needles
Whoo hoo!
Well I lie and I'm easy

"Woo Hoo" by the 5.6.7.8s (as heard in Kill Bill Volume 1, and at least two commercials currently on TV)

"One-Two Step" by Ciara, featuring Missy Elliot (inane little dance song that is constantly being played on the radio)

The most obvious I can think of is U2's latest. The one with horrible Spanish.

Already Gone by the Eagles:

"I will sing this victory song:
Woo hoo hoo woo hoo hoo."

How about Buddy Holly by Weezer?

Imperial Drag has a song called "Yoo Hoo." Not quite the same, but close.

Waterboys. Fisherman's Blues:

Counting the towns flashing by
In a night thats full of soul
With light in my head
You in my arms
Woohoo!

"All of the Angels", a b-side by Tears For Fears. So much so that I have appended the song an unofficial alternate title: "All of the Angels (woo hoo hoo)".

All of the angels
Woo hoo HOO!
Callin' us home
Woo hoo HOO HOO!
We leave tomorrow
We leave everything we own!
Yeah yeah yeah!

Buch Dich by Rammstein has a woohoo in roughly the first line, cant remember offhand if it is repeated much later=)

It's All Been Done by Barenaked Ladies, rumoured to have been written because they didn't want to be the only band without a song with "Woo hoo" in it...

Sympathy for the Devil by the Rolling Stones has quite a few Whoo! Whoo! s in it, but those might not count in the OPs eyes, either.

Thanks for the suggestions. Those that I've never heard (Rammstein for instance) will require investigation.

I mentioned Song 2 in the OP as I knew that it does indeed go 'Woo Hoo!'

I hoped I had pointed out how fussy I was by outlawing a 'woo hoo hoo' as not being a 'woo hoo'. Think Homer Simpson. He doesn't say, 'Woo Hoo Hoo!' when delighted!

I'd love to include your entry Roland, but it does not meet the criteria.

I don't need 'yoo hoo's or 'whoo whoo's (I'd considered Sympathy For The Devil but discounted it), I'll look out all the songs above in the hope that they don't in fact say, 'Woo Woo!'

'Woo Hoo! by the 5,6,7,8's does look promising tho....

Thanks

"Friends of P" by The Rentals might work. I think it has some woo hoo's in addition to some woo hoo hoo's.

I love these songs. Most of my favorites have already been mentioned. But don't forget:

"Walk of Life" by Dire Straits
"Runnin' Down a Dream" by Tom Petty

I'm pretty sure there's a Steve Miller Song with a pretty good, "Woo Hoo!" in it. I'm thinking maybe 'Jungle Love", but it's probably something else.

Or maybe "Take the Money and Run". Anyone else remember? The "Whoo hoo"s don't appear on the lyrics sheets.

Steve Miller rocks. That's all I have to say.

Oh, I see. My song isn't good enough for your little clique. Clearly that extra "hoo" in there completely distorts the meaning of the all-too-poignant "woo hoo" lyric before it. Why don't you just step into the Pit (http://realultimatepower.net/index4.htm) and tell me how bad my song is THERE. I'll be waiting.

Just kiddin'. Guess I ought to read OPs more carefully. So, confession time...how many people thought I was actually pissed?

Uh, not me. But still worth tee-hee's and ha-ha's, if not a woo-hoo.

BTW, what is the song on that car commercial (maybe a BMW commercial???) that begins with a very robust "Woo-HOO!"? It's not the 5.6.7.8's song, but another.

But NOT tee-hee-hees or ha-ha-has.

Damn straight.

I'd say that Dire Straits 'Walk of Life' goes 'wu hoo' as much as it goes 'woo hoo', but maybe that's the Geordie coming through.

I seriously appreciate the suggestions though.

Thanks

It is definitely "Take the Money and Run," but I'm not 100% sure that they are certified woo-hoos as opposed to hoo-hoos.

Sorry, I hadn't noticed the subtlety of 'Whoo Hoo!' as opposed to 'Woo Hoo!'

Will consider.

How about Buddy Holly by Weezer?

But that's "ooo wee ooo" not "woo hoo".

Song 2 by Blur

I've heard some people call this "The Woo Hoo Song". Anyone else call it "The Intel Song" as Mr. Purl and myself do?

Thanks Minnie Purl.

Songs that go 'Woo (or possibly 'Whoo') Hoo!' are all I'm after.

Though I like the 5,6,7,8's song, it doesn't fit. You see it needs to be an explosive woo hoo, an ejaculatory exclaimation - like Homer, like XTC, like Blur. The 5,6's woo's are in lieu of lyrics; they carry the tune.

Jeez I sound like a berk.

Legolam - just listened to Barenaked Ladies - IT GOES "WOO HOO HOO!"

Keith Urban is in but not a great song imo, but it fits the criteria!

I'll add The Shins' "So Says I" to the list (a great song, by the way). Although it could be argued they're going "WHOOO-OOOOOO!" sans "H."

If you're thinking of the BMW.com short film "Star", then the song is "Song 2".

I don't really like the song, but the film is so amusing that I smile when I hear it anyway.

It (the film) features a bitch diva "superstar", played by an uncredited Madonna (how's that for typecasting) who is driven to her "Venue" by The Driver (who appears in the entire series.) Only The Driver has a second client with slightly different agenda with a very amusing result.

How about the song from Rasing Arizona?

I think Woo and Hoo are the only words.
